The phrase "We take care of our own." could be interpreted in any number of ways, some of them more forceful than familial.
Indeed. "We take care of our own". So. . . our allies are confident? Our elderly are warm and never lonely? Or does it mean we eat our young? Not that any of these symptoms are mutually exclusive.
