The freighters still come more or less on schedule, every five years. Each time a Regiment is assembled and loaded aboard, dutifully. But the adventure seems to have dissipated.
And after that and for the next 150 years the freighters showed up on schedule, in orbit roughly every five years to pick up another generation of the Regiment.
But it became less and less clear where the ships were coming from.
The Hakon in 573 returned empty. Lost the Regiment in a warzone somewhere, dropped them off and then couldn't find them again. And the Laurie Alabaster in 598 blew up, all hands.
In 708 the Broomcorn went missing in the Aeornholm Sector, was never heard from again. And then Wilhelm Troepf sailed in 732 and disintegrated six months out of orbit.
