Treacherous Life, Five

An early photopict of troops from 21st Chemical/302 Wasteland Reconnaissance during fighting for the Salt Refineries on Kalkovac, probably around 540.

This is a rare photo of the 302nd in what is now known as their Pre-Expansion pattern uniforms.

Marzban, Voyage of the Rumination.

Captured in photograph while advancing past an agricultural outpost on Marzban, this specialist is easily identifiable as an Alchemist's Assistant by the banded leather apron he wears above the knee.

While not normally relegated to line infantry tasks, the shortage of replacements along the frontier saw all manner of rear echelon troops called up, as the soldier pictured clearly has been armed with a Type 17 submachinegun and a standard issue shovel.

Some of the most sedulous fighting of the campaign occurred around the industrial farms of the Srau Inlet.

Voyage of the Rumination, 668. Year Nine.

Scaffoldsman

This soldier, pictured carrying a Kt-Type Three Meter Extension Joist, wears the distinctive armor of a Scaffold Laborer Class II. His specific Company is impossible to determine from this visual reference, as the ceremonial gloves normally afforded to this rank have been replaced in the field by more functional mitts cut and sewn from hide.

The ornate gloves worn by Scaffoldsmen are important element of their dress uniform, and will contain an elaborate telling of the soldiers service record and unit history in fine detailed embroidery. Such gloves are highly prized by collectors and historians alike.

Probably late 700s, likely the voyage of the Cavity Rona around 780.
Third decade.

Transport 06

Scout Rifleman from the Motorized Advance Company, 302 W/R. Records indicate that the soldier pictured is likely to be Class III Scout (C3) H. Januisz, though this would be impossible to determine with certainty.

No rank markings are visible on this soldiers uniform, consistent with field code.

C3 Januisz was deployed with Transport 06 in the decade of 594-604. Note the distinctive cylindrical high volume magazine and bi-pod arrangement his autogun. This design was extremely controversial at the time, though this basic arrangement retains a core of vociferous advocates to this day amongst the more liberal of command.

Voyage of the Skoli.
